"Chook on Sundays" relates largely to the period from the end of the Great War, through the Depression years, the Second World War and into the fifties. The people in this book tell of simple, treasured, memories which, collectively, form an image of life before the television era. A period when they were the butchers, barmaids, taxi drivers, cooks, punters, rogies and scoundrels of the Goldfields community. It is to these people, and the many we could not fit into this volume, that the Goldfields towns of Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie and Boulder owe their inimitable character.
It is to them that this book is dedicated and we thank them for the privilege of being allowed to share their experiences.
